29 Sep, 2009 12:21 PM
SOME of the world's best cyclists will make their way through Creswick, Daylesford, Trentham and Glenlyon as part of the 57th Jayco Herald Sun Tour.

The oldest stage cycling race in Australia, the event starts in Ballarat on Sunday, October 11.

More than 100 cyclists riding in 15 teams will compete.

The Tour Challenge will also be held on October 11 and is open to everyday riders who want to experience one of the key stages of the event.

The rides are open to teams and individuals and give cyclists the chance to test themselves on the stage one course the day before the riders tackle it.

It begins at 7am and is a loop ride to and from Ballarat via Creswick, Daylesford and Trentham.

The first stage of the tour will be held on Monday, October 12.

Riders are expected to pass through Hepburn Shire between 10.30am and 2.30pm including the towns of Creswick, Daylesford, Trentham and Glenlyon.

Rolling road closures will be managed by police along roads including the Midland Highway, Daylesford/Trentham Rd, Trentham/Kyneton Rd, Springhill/Glenlyon Rd and Malmsbury/Daylesford Rd.
