MORE than 150 people turned out to cheer on competitors at the Lyonville Woodchop at the Lyonville Hall at the weekend.
In sunny, warm conditions, spectators were drawn to the Open 250mm Combination Victorian Championship and the Junior Underhand Championship.
Lawrence O'Toole took out the Victorian State Title while A. Deverell won the Junior Underhand Championship.
Lyonville Woodchop organiser Allan Pearce said there were 32 entries, giving spectators lots of fun and action.
"It was a very good roll-up for woodchopping," he said.
"The crowd enjoyed themselves."
Mr Pearce said the woodchoppers in the underhand event were cutting through a 300mm log in 25 seconds.
Lyonville Hall committee member Anne Bremner said the woodchop was a great family and community day with an array of fun activities.
"The kids enjoyed the races and the gumboot throwing," she said.
"They also liked the spinning wheel."
The next woodchopping event will be held in Blackwood East on Easter Saturday, April 15, from 11am.
Mr Pearce said the program would be much bigger than the Lyonville Woodchop, drawing crowds between 1500 and 2000.
