STEPHAN Callahan won Trentham Lions Club's Cool Country Classic 10km race on Sunday.
Callahan won in a time of 36:30:19 from Adam Coote, 36:50:13.
Rose Fenech finished strongly to win the women's 10km race in 43:24:68 from runner-up Pamela Ginnane who
recorded 45:22:06.
Paul Munro won the men's five kilometre in an impressive 16:22:08. The race went down to the wire with runner-
up Gordon Muir just 23 seconds behind.
Robyn Millard, 18:20:92, won the women's race from Rosemary Arthur, 20:13:95.
The races started from the Pig and Whistle Hotel at 11am. Trentham Lions Club president Rex Fox said about 40
runners competed in the 10km event, while more than 200 took part in the five-kilometre event.
"The 10km is made up of some of stronger, more serious runners while the five kilometre was entered by a lot of
families and walkers," Mr Fox said.
He said said warm weather failed to reduce competitor numbers.
"There was a nice family atmosphere and the five-kilometre race and good support for the 10km runners," Mr Fox
said.
"It was warm and humid for the race. We had thunderstorms a few hours before the start, but it was clear by 11am,"
he said.
