The Lakies had finished above Hepburn on the ladder but had previously been defeated by eight goals when they met the Burras in round 13.

The older, more experienced Lakies were determined not to allow their opponents to pull ahead and control the play.

In a very physical game, Hepburn's young goalers Ruby Henderson and Ange Giacometti still managed to outmanoeuvre their defenders.

Sixteen year old Ellie Thornycroft at wing attack was a stand out for Hepburn by providing endless fast and sharp drives to the circle and managing to feed the ball under the post.

Injury to Giacometti saw her leave the court and the Lakies began to claw back.

Adjusting the line up seemed to break the Burras' confidence and Learmonth took the lead.

In a tense final quarter, it was Henderson at goal attack that stood up and provided Hepburn with the opportunity to draw the match.

It was the young Burras' fitness for the 10 minutes of overtime that gave them the chance to steal back the lead and win the match by two goals 40 to 38.

Hepburn's C Grade team will now face Clunes this Sunday for the second semi-final knock out match.
