Burra's pressure swamps Crows

29 Jun, 2010 12:07 PM
HEPBURN's full-court defensive pressure proved too much for visitors Beaufort, the Burras claiming the round-11 clash 37-21 on Hepburn's home court.

Expecting a physical match, the Burras were focused and prepared for the challenge.

Beaufort's height in goals caused some early troubles for the home side.

Goal keeper Ebony Place provided some quick-thinking turnovers, which allowed the Burras to move the ball down court to accurate goaler Jane Lienhop to score.

Captain Libby Purtell in centre and Lauren Place at wing attack were able to break down their opponent's defensive efforts.

Providing plenty of options in the circle, the Burras goalers managed to take Hepburn to a 19-11 lead at half-time.

There was limited use of the bench due to illness and injury but Hepburn still managed to comfortably rotate its line ups in an attempt to shake off a determined Beaufort.

Purtell and Lienhop's experience in goals eventually caused the opposition to lose concentration.

The Burras' full-court defensive pressure proved too strong for Beaufort with Hepburn running out winners by 16 goals.
