HEPBURN eagerly returned from the mid-season break to record a convincing 51-17 win over Ballan.
The Burras, led by captain Libby Purtell in centre, had a full line-up for the first time since round three, and started strongly and confidently.
Ebony Place and Kylie Torpey teamed up in the defensive circle and continuously shut down Ballan's goalers.
The Burras' strength in the mid court - from wing defence to wing attack - overpowered their opponents within minutes. Sharp drives and precision passing allowed Hepburn to quickly turn the ball over and bring it down court.
Sharp shooters Jane Lienhop and Kristina Closhey missed only one of 17 attempts, shooting at 95 per cent, for the first break's lead, 16-4.
Because of last week's bye, Hepburn was keen to rotate its bench to allow everyone to gain confidence.
Bringing Hannah Cameron-Taylor into goal defence and Tara Ford to wing defence, the Burras were quickly controlling the game again.
Cameron-Taylor's defensive pressure was relentless with many tips on the ball forcing the turnover.
Ballan's young side never stopped applying pressure or changed tactics in attack, however the Burras' confidence and skill level took its toll on the opposition, with Hepburn 34-goal victors.
