A massacre at the Daylesford Speedway

18 May, 2010 12:37 PM
THE Mother's Day Massacre at the Daylesford Speedway drew a large crowd of spectators.

The weekend of activities started on the Saturday with the drivers' last chance for points.

Sunday, the ladies took to the track with Lea Davey (Bacchus Marsh) wining the open ladies and Debra Norris (Portland) wining the novice class.

The ever popular caravan race was not short of competitors or action.

Among all the standard type caravans and boats, David Cooke had a replica of a three bedroom home on the back of a trailer.

It was complete with front garden and backyard dog.

Car 27 had a surf board that looked like it was riding a wave between the flags.

Trevor Dickins rebuilt his pirate ship from last year's race. The boat's that sail in the Sydney to Hobart don't receive the battering like this boat did but Dickins managed to get it across the finish line to win.

The Demo Derby drivers had to contend with the caravan race debris but still thrilled the crowd.

It is now the end of the Speedway season with the new season to start in either September or October 2010.
