HEPBURN Shire's Shane Morrison and Katelyn Bugden are off to compete in the fourth World Taekwondo Festival in Muju, South Korea, in July.
The festival invites people from around the world to take part in all forms of Taekwondo with sparring, patterns, breaking (tiles, bricks and timber) and also creative displays.
The festival is run over six days, giving time to take in the history of South Korea as well.
Ms Bugden's displays over the years have seen her progress to be one of the top in her field by picking up numerous country, state and national titles along the way.
She recently competed in the Victorian Open Technical Championships held in Melbourne and won through her rounds with unanimous decisions.
She came up against last year's Australian World Taekwondo representative and won convincingly 4-1.
The conclusion of the event was the "Best of the Best" in which Ms Bugden was invited to contest. It saw her up against the senior two-time national representative from NSW for the international scholarship contest, in a very close play-off, just missing out with a final score of 2-3.
Ms Bugden has signalled her intentions as a serious contender for the forthcoming Word Taekwondo event in Korea. Taekwondo is held in Daylesford Primary School on Tuesday nights for both juniors and seniors.
