Trentham's Tamara Betson is central Highland's Champ of Champs

01 Feb, 2012 12:00 AM
TAMARA Betson of the Trentham Bowling Club has won the Central Highlands Bowling Division Champ of Champs for Ladies for the 2011/2012 season.

This is the first time in the 48-year history of the Trentham club that a lady bowler has won the divisional singles competition.

Betson qualified for the divisional competition by winning the Trentham ladies singles and then competed against singles winners from seven other clubs in the division.

The divisional competition was played as a knockout event over two days at Gisborne and Betson had to beat two opponents before meeting Heather Brock from the Lancefield Club in the grand final.

The grand final was a close match with the lead changing several times.

Betson finally won 25 to 22 after 31 ends.

The Trentham Bowling Club is always looking for new bowlers, both women and men.

People interested in joining can contact the president, John Wood on 5424 1351 or the secretary, Steve Dutton on 5348 5595.
