IN A team effort, Daylesford won the Ballarat Regional Bowls Association division eight pennant premiership last Saturday.
It polled three rink wins to claim the title by 21 shots from Linton at the Ballarat Memorial Sports green.
On Monday, Daylesford skipper Paul Kelly said the squad was still talking about the win which capped off the pennant season.
"It was superb," he said. "The whole team put in. We had to do what we had to do."
Mr Kelly said the weather was an advantage to the winning team, which "handled it better" than Linton.
"The greens ran 12. We are suited to that," he said.
Mr Kelly said Daylesford had played Linton four times during the season.
"We knew they would be a hard team," he said. "The first time we played them we got home by three shots."
Daylesford skipper Lois Voterakis said her rink including Nick Cetinich, Ron Rodda and Maureen Tate won by only two shots.
"We had a very tight game right down till the last four ends," she said. "We ended two shots up."
The rink consisting of Mr Kelly, Zig Trat, Barry Gruer and Dot Bull was up all day with the highest being 14 shots. The rink took the points with an eight shot victory.
Daylesford's third rink, consisting of skipper Mike Tate, Robert Oonk, Lloyd Curtis and Joan Field, won by 11 shots.
The final score was 77-56.
"We had a fantastic day," Mr Kelly said.
Daylesford hasn't won a flag in division eight in about five years.
Mr Kelly said everyone was proud of the efforts put in to the premiership.
"The presentation night was great. Each player got a mug and a medal," Mr Kelly said.
Mr Kelly could not confirm whether the squad would progress to division seven following the win.
He said it was up to the BRBA.
