SMEATON had its first win for the season over Korweinguboora in Daylesford and District Cricket Association on Saturday.
Last week Smeaton compiled a competitive total of 230. Korweinguboora resumed at 2/28. They were dismissed for 155 with young Alex Cimera being the only batsman to offer resistance with a very good 45.
The bowlers to stand out for Smeaton were Michael Grose 4/49, Andrew Knowles 2/21, Gerard Vanoostveen 3/12 and Andrew Nethercott.
Newlyn had an outright win over Trentham. Newlyn resumed its first innings at 3/82 after Trentham had made 79 and went on to make 9/145 declared with Ian Hill 63 and Michael Rice 21 standing out with the bat, Ian Dunne picked
up 6/45.
Newlyn had a second hit and the game finished after Newlyn gained outright points hitting 2/80, Mark Clohesy made 29.
Colts resumed their first innings at 8/130 and went on to make 145. Rod Sewell 27 and Scott Knight 22 were the better bats.Rob Whan 3/21 and Matthew O'Brien 3/35 picked up the wickets. Blackwood replied with 181.
The batsmen to do well were Darren Woodward 57, Derek Hepburn 42 and David Morgan 40. Tom Geddes 3/62 and Michael Cummings 3/62 did well for Colts.
This was a close game, Blackwood being seven down they passed Colts, then Colts were able to give everyone a bowl.
