THE Australian sporting spirit was celebrated at Cricket Willow on Australia Day with two successful matches.
Nine families entered the super 6s cricket competition which proved a great family day out.
Trish Tinetti from Cricket Willow said it was great to see the families involved on such a special day.
"There was combined teams of local families," she said.
Wendouree took top honours in the Cricket Willow Twenty20 grand final, playing against North Castlemaine.
The winning team scored 4/126, while North Castlemaine fell behind scoring all out for 119.
Top batting performances included Wendouree's Heath Pyke making 49 runs and North Castlemaine's Jamie Allan scoring 37 runs.
Wendouree's Leon Reidy took 2/25 while North Castlemaine's Sam Miller took 2/11 and Tim Miller took 2/16.
