THE Daylesford Saints have defeated Ballarat Red 4-1, to move to third on the ladder.
The team will face VicPark Red next week, a challenger for the title.
The Saints were missing Matt Sutton through injury but found a great game in returning Dylan Nulty.
The players played with determination and had a cracking first half.
The Saints got off to a great first half, with fluent passing and clear domination early on, and scored through Toneka Costa and Sam Berrins, who stunned the surging crowd with a 40-yard missile into the top corner.
The defence was also functioning well with Dwight Bear, the ever-reliable Dragi Koleski and Steve Jenner playing well. The Saints had their work cut out, with every player digging deep to create chances for Dylan Nulty and Sam Berrins.
Brett Fern and Toneka Costa had a great first half and dominated.
Ballarat started the second half with better soccer and scored a goal to even, Steve Jenner did a great job in goals for the missing and irreplaceable Nick Jansen.
