DAYLESFORD'S Run For Your Life has raised about $6000 for cancer research and those living with cancer and their families.
Founder CiCi Edwards said 300 people had taken part in the run, held over three different routes, with all vowing to return next year for the annual event.
Ms Edwards said participation had been up 50 per cent on the inaugural year.
"Everyone I spoke to said it was a great event - and they will be back," she said.
Ms Edwards said all money raised, mostly through registrations, was given to beneficiaries including local organisations.
Some of the money, which was still being added up on Monday, would also go to a trust fund for children whose parents were dying from cancer.
It would be used for counselling and art therapy, she said.
Ms Edwards said about 45 people had volunteered their time to act as marshalls for the "community and social event".
A "chat and chew" tent had proved a popular new addition with many people taking the time to sit down and meet other participants.
Ms Edwards said while winners had not yet been announced due to a dispute in one race, place-getters included: Dean Kelly, Jack Davies, Patricia Lavigne and Amanda Moroney in the three kilometre run; Brendan Pawsey, Stephen
Brindel, Theresa Stancato and Alex Ryan in the five kilometre run; and Simon Tournier, Eric Louw, Anne Zeiogos and Lisa Deramond in the eight kilometre run.
