ROS Roberts hit her straps in section two of Daylesford Tennis last Saturday, April 3, with a classy 22/11 win ahead of Pete Risstrom who had 22/15 for second.
Gary Thomas 21/18 edged out John Turnbull 23/20 for third, while Darwin visitor (and Daylesford Murray-to-Moyne team-member) Ron Griep came fifth with 21/20.
This was an impressive effort after the 90km bike ride in the morning.
In section one, Pete Eksdedt collected the chockies with 24/15.
Taylor Hofman won all four sets to complete a marathon afternoon 28/21, three games short of the possible maximum, to finish a very unlucky second.
Adrian Maude 20/17 came third ahead of Bernie Frith 21/20.
A small group of social players also enjoyed a hit, as did a multitude of court-hiring visitors. Big movers on the ladder include Peter Risstrom from 57 to 17, Ros Roberts from 18 to 11, Taylor Hofman from 10 to 4 and Peter Ekstedt the
new leader up from fifth position.
With only three weeks to go in the season, the courts are still in a great condition, so members are encouraged to get in a few more afternoons of play before the lawn-tennisless winter arrives.
Afternoon tea roster for next week: Ingham, Clough and Malcher families; G Stewart; P Salinger. The season finale is at the Old Hepburn Hotel, 7pm on April 24.
