Publican runs away with prize piece of willow

19 Dec, 2006 11:18 AM
OLD Hepburn Hotel publican Jason Dooley was the proud winner of an autographed cricket bat at the Run for the Willow carnival held at Cricket Willow on December 9 and 10.

Mr Dooley said he bought a couple of tickets on the second day of the carnival to win the bat autographed by Olympic and Commonwealth sprinters.

"I had a feeling I was going to win," he said.

Kyle Van der Kuyp, Daniel Batman, Patrick Johnson and Nova Peris are among the signatures on one of Cricket Willow's own Jabaroo cricket bat, which is framed.

Mr Dooley said he would find a place on the pub's wall for his prize.

"Anyone is welcome to come up and have a look," he said.

Trish Tinetti from Cricket Willow drew Mr Dooley's ticket out of the hat during the carnival on Sunday.

"I drew the number out. I was really pleased that it will be somewhere where it will be exposed," she said.

Raffle tickets were sold in the lead up to and during the carnival.

All money raised will go to Camp Quality.
