DESPITE cold, wet and slippery conditions, Hepburn proved too slick, defeating Clunes 46-19 in round eight of the Central Highlands Netball League.
The undefeated Burras travelled to Magpie-land for this important match, needing to play a solid game to take a win and remain one game clear on top of the ladder.
The return of goaler Kristina Closhey from injury was almost balanced out with the losses of captain Libby Purtell and centre Lauren Place due to work commitments.
The squad of seven was confident in its game plan and took the lead early.
Strong defence from goal keeper Kylie Torpey proved too much for her opponents as she managed to shut down the Clunes goal shooter.
Feeding into the circle was also made difficult by the Burras' young wing defence, Tara Ford, who continually stopped the opposition's wing attack's drives to the circle.
Hannah Cameron-Taylor, at centre, offered Hepburn the speed in attack it was missing without Purtell.
Strong drives through the mid-court and into the circle provided too many options for the Burra's goalers to score and Clunes' defence began to crumble.
Another outstanding game from goal shooter Jane Lienhop, shooting at 80 per cent, helped Hepburn run away with the game.
The Burras are looking forward to coming Saturday's top-of-the-ladder home clash against undefeated Springbank, from 1.30pm.
*HEPBURN'S reserves remain unbeaten after a resounding 37-4 victory.
With two players missing, captain Janee Brown led the way at centre and Hepburn's speed in attack swamped Clunes.
Hepburn claimed victory in all grades, except for an exciting 33-all draw in C-grade.
