THE Hepburn Football Netball Club is looking toward the future with new training regimes aimed at building on last year's success.
Hepburn Football Club vice-president Jason Olver said all squads were looking very strong this year.
"All our teams made it to the finals last year, with the seniors and reserves both winning the grand final while the under-15s lost by one point and the under-18s lost the preliminary," Mr Olver said.
"We're hoping to make it to the finals again."
Seniors coach Shane Robertson said a lot of young players were very committed and doing three nights a week training.
"We'll be giving them every opportunity to develop and continue their seniors experience," Mr Robertson said.
"We encourage all our supporters to come down to the club on Thursday nights and spend some time with the players."
Hepburn Netball Club manager Erin Richardson said the netball teams had taken a brand new approach to their training this season.
"We're taking a very organised and professional approach. Training is compulsory and there are team guidelines with everyone putting in and supporting each other," Ms Richardson said.
"It's looking really good for the season ahead and we're aiming for the finals."
The seniors and reserves teams have recruited a new coach in Vicki McLeod from Castlemaine, who has accredited qualifications and 10 years' experience, while the under-17s have also welcomed their new coach, Gary Cooke.
Ms Richardson said they have retained a lot of players from last year with one of the seniors, Libby Purtell, also playing for Ballarat Pride in the Victorian Netball League.
The football and netball teams will play their first matches in the Central Highlands competition on Saturday, April 18, against Clunes at their home ground.
