HEPBURN Shire students Katelyn Bugden, Sharie-Lee Olver, Sharon and Shane Morrison are fighting their way to sporting success.
The quartet, along with 35 other members from Trainor Taekwondo from Daylesford, Ballarat, Kyneton competed at the National Taekwondo Selections at the State Netball Centre in Melbourne.
The competition ran for four days and drew more than 700 entries.
Katelyn put in a fine performance to gain gold in a division with international and national contestants, according to a spokesperson for the club. She also teamed up with Ballarat club member Renee Seely to gain gold in the
pairs section.
Bugden, who earlier this year competed for a place in the Australian team in the 14- to 17-year-old black belt section and placed fourth in front of a panel of international judges.
Sharie-Lee, in her first national selections, won her first fight after performing well in the poomse with a large group in the red-belt section. She went on to take out the silver medal.
The spokesperson said Olver's win followed a good performance at the Regional Championships in Ballarat earlier this year and her determination and fearlessness would see her further improve in this division.
Sharon teamed up with Ballarat members Janine Trainor and Grace Young to gain silver in the ladies black belt teams section.
Shane also won gold in his division to take the senior black belt gold.
The squad members are looking forward to competing in the National Championships, in Adelaide, which run for four big days with 1400 entries.
