Event set to test rider endurance

17 May, 2007 12:23 AM
VICTORIA'S enduro mountain bike navigation event is set to challenge riders and navigators in the Wombat State Forest this Sunday

Cyclic Navigator #2 is a three or five hour mountain bike navigation event on forest roads and trails.

The Batson Still specially prepared map is bounded by Bullarto, Spargo Creek and Daylesford.

The event will take in the bike friendly terrain of Wombat Forest.

It has some interesting features, one of which is unique, according to organiser Ken Dowling.

"Firstly, there is a check point at a coffee shop - map coffee of course. Secondly, riders can genuinely train without pain by electing to take the tourist train as part of their route. Bikes are accommodated

in the guards van," Mr Dowling said.

Participants will get a digitally printed map that has most roads and tracks and all controls (checkpoints) pre-marked for the event.

Described as "ride, race, recreate, navigate", the event can be as easy or tough as you like.
