DAYLESFORD'S Donna Robinson was crowned the new Ballarat District Ladies Bowling Association champion of champions earlier this month.
After three close games and a tough competition, Robinson clinched the singles title from Smeaton's Joan Lafranchi at Ballarat Memorial Sports.
"It's the first time I have won it at that level," she said. "I felt relief when I won."
Robinson said she "really had to knock them down".
"I got away to a killer start but it's like I go shopping or something. It was a hard three games."
The 47-year-old started bowling when she was 29 in Ballan and hasn't looked back since.
"I like my sport. I used to play indoor cricket, pool and darts. My grandmother-in-law played and I got roped in," she said.
"I play with my mother-in-law in the same team in pennants. My husband plays for Ballan."
Robinson said she feels the nerves before competing.
"Once I am bowling I don't focus on anything around the green. You have to really focus on the game," she said.
Robinson is so passionate about her sport that she travels around the state to compete.
Robinson's chances of winning the group pennant against Maryborough last Thursday was shattered when she tore her calf muscle during the game.
Robinson was recovering on crutches on Friday.
She had hoped to play in Melbourne next month at a pennant final and a group pennant in Swan Hill in April.
