DAYLESFORD premiership coach Phil Davis has re-signed with the Bulldogs for 2008.
An agreement between Davis and the club convinced the grand final mastermind to return to Victoria Park.
A full time assistant coach and an increase in football department personnel will be part of the new-season changes.
Although he never quit, Davis thought seriously about having a football-free 2008 after a demanding 2007 season.
He is currently holidaying in India.
New president Barry Phypers said the club was delighted to have Davis back.
"It's great to have our premiership coach back," Mr Phypers said.
An assistant coach and possible recruits will be announced next month.
Mr Phypers said the club was looking to address a shortage of volunteers, which made life more difficult for the club's leaders in 2007.
"We're on the lookout for more volunteers, we've already picked up a few so things are looking up around the club," Mr Phypers said.
"The former president John Goullett has been coming back and helping the new committee, which is great to see," he said.
Daylesford's 2007 premiership was the first since 1961 when it beat Maryborough in the Ballarat Football League.
Mr Phypers said the new committee's goals for 2008 simply included the senior side playing in finals.
"It will be hard to go back to back, teams will have become a lot better this year and it's always hard to win twice in a row.
"Clubs like Daylesford and Hepburn have improved the standard of football in CHFL," Mr Phypers said.
Daylesford will begin pre-season in February, training Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
The season starts on April 19.
