Creswick soccer team takes to the field

27 Jun, 2007 04:52 PM
CRESWICK Soccer Club's under-eight team played its first official game at Doug Lindsay Reserve in Creswick over the weekend.

Coach Warren Porter has been involved with the Creswick Soccer Club for 20 years and said he had been waiting and wishing for the day Creswick played at Creswick instead of its home-away-from-home at Dean.

Volunteers spent many hours preparing Doug Lindsay Reserve for junior soccer.

Mr Porter said the development was great news for junior soccer in Creswick because parents would no longer need to travel to support the children at matches.

In Saturday's game Creswick White, two, defeated Creswick Gold, one.

Braden Cruthfield Mathew Bartum were best afield.
