COLTS recovered from a disastrous start to post a competitive total against Smeaton in Daylesford and District Cricket Association at the weekend.
At 3-1, Colts were in serious strife after winning the toss and batting on Saturday.
They recovered to make 167 with Ben Broadway, 90, Scott Knight, 34, and Aaron Brereton, 23, among the runs.
The bowlers to do well were Michael Grose 3-28 off 10 overs and Gerard Vanoostaveen, who with 2-7 off two overs is on a hat trick.
Smeaton batted and was dismissed for only 80. Michael Grose,19, and Andrew Knowles, 12, offered the only resistance.
Steven Thomas with 5-24 from 11 and Tom Geddes 4-14 off five overs did the damage with the ball.
Colts are 1-33 in their second innings.
Hepburn won the toss, batted and compiling 208 against Trentham.
Wayne Robinson, 89, and Lee Santurini, 40, topsocored.
Ian Dunne 4-50 and Dean Crewther 3-33 did well with the ball for Trentham.
Trentham is 2-44 with Dean Crewther, 16 not out, and will continue the chase on Saturday.
Korweinguboora at home to Blackwood won the toss, batted and made 208 runs.
Alex Cimera, 41, Luke Adams, 53, and Josh Cowan, 20 not out, did well with the bat while Darren Woodward took 2-41 for Blackwood.
Blackwood will need to build strong partnerships if it is to win and hold top spot on the ladder.
Daylesford juniors
eresumed their chase of Guildford's 102 and lost three quick wickets until Darcy Shewell, 52 retired, and Sebastian Walsh, 47, steadied the ship.
Other batsmen to do well were Billy Albert, 33, Pat Murray, 38 retired, Marcus Elderfield, 17, not out and Robert Glen 12. Daylesford finished at 8-237, M Ambeler took 3-31 for Guildford.
Next week Daylesford is away to Muckleford.
Despite the stormy weather, the Daylesford under-14 team began a match against Elphinstone, which batted steadily to record a reasonable total.
Mitchell Walsh, Joe Clarke, Damien Crowley and Stuart Aberdein were the wicket-takers while Joe Clarke also took a catch. Steady batting will be needed from Daylesford when the match resumes.
