TRENTHAM Football Club and Creswick Netball Club will look the part with new uniforms thanks to some much-needed funds.
Both clubs won the funding through the Victorian Government's Our Club, Our Future sports uniform grants program.
The first round of funding will provide $1000 to assist with the purchase of jumpers for Trentham Football Club and $936 towards Creswick's junior netball uniform drive.
Trentham president Vin Cowell said the money will go towards helping replace lost jumpers.
"We had a lot of jumpers go missing last year," he said. "It was a bad year for the club, we were just about gone."
He said the club had improved remarkably this year.
"We've got two sides up and running. We haven't won a game yet but we have been competitive."
Club sponsor wood protection company Kopper Arch, a wood protection company, will also help pay for the new guernseys.
Ballarat East MLA Geoff Howard, who announced the funds, said uniforms helped to establish a club's identity, character and build morale among team mates.
"This first round of funding will provide up to $1000 to around 800 sporting clubs in Victoria, assisting in the purchase of uniform clothing and footwear," Mr Howard said.
"Now clubs can get a cash boost to help their players put on the club colours and help create a sense of team unity and pride.
"These grants provide added incentive for people of all ages and abilities to be part of a team, enabling even the smallest of clubs to look the part while competing and training."
Part of the State Government's Go for Your Life campaign, the Our Club, Our Future grants benefit disadvantaged and junior clubs and encourage participation in sport at the grassroots level.
"A second round of funding is still available for application by September."
