THE Daylesford and Hepburn United Soccer Club has called for more players in a desperate bid to field a reserves team in its 20th anniversary year.
With the season set to kick off at the end of this month, the club needs up to three more players to field a team.
Player Ivan Carter said the club had always fielded two teams but this year was struggling to field one.
"The club has a proud history and has won numerous league titles and cups in the past and is hoping for a good season ahead," he said.
"The club hopes for a full reserves team to celebrate its 20th year of existence but requires more players to make a team possible."
Mr Carter was confident to get enough players to field a team.
He said anyone with an interest in soccer or past and new players were welcome.
Mr Carter said benefits included socialising, fitness and community interaction.
"There are lots of benefits. It's a social team," he said.
Playing in the Ballarat league, Daylesford and Hepburn United Soccer Club will play 15 rounds in the season.
Mr Carter was disappointed that the club had to train in Dean following a lack of resources in Daylesford and Hepburn Springs.
He said it was unfortunate that other sporting clubs had failed to share their resources.
"To play in Daylesford would be ideal," he said.
The club trains on Thursday nights at the Dean soccer ground from 7pm.
Transport from Daylesford is available.
