A MORE experienced Waubra outfit wore down a young Dunnstown side to advance to the second week of finals with a 53-point victory at Bungaree on Saturday.
A six-goals-to-one final quarter by the Roos ended the Towners' hopes, which were not aided by injury, the final score 12.13 (85) to 4.8 (32).
Roos coach Paul Jennings said it was a ``bloody great win''.
``Our defence was really on top of their forward line - what I set up for was Rhys Cahir was their main goal kicker, so we really targeted that,'' he said.
Nicholas Moran did a good job on him, forcing Cahir further up the ground to get the ball.
Jennings also praised his opposition.
``Dunnstown, for such a young team, it was a phenomenal effort to get here, you can see why they were sitting in third - for young kids they made it pretty physical,'' Jennings said.
Dummett said it was not their ``best game'' but took away the positive that the Towners have had a great year to build on.
``Give full credit to Waubra, they beat us in every facet of the game today - they had a lot of good players,'' he said.
Dunnstown had first use of the breeze, but the Roos were able to work the ball against it and Mark Molloy opened the scoring after two minutes.
John Coleman then took a strong grab from a Lee Brown (four goals) shot and snapped the set shot over his shoulder from a tight angle - much in the manner that Cam Mooney does for Geelong.
Paul Dodds was getting plenty of the ball through the middle for the Roos, while Jose was starting to get on top in the ruck.
Cahir judged the flight of the ball better to mark and boot Dunnstown's first major, but Waubra led at the first break by four points.
Bryce Mullane was providing the Towners with plenty of run as both sides struggled to get going after the break.
At the nine-minute mark, Dunnstown worked the ball out of defence, Kayle Mullane finding Cahir, who in turn picked out Brett Duffy.
A 50m penalty brought him within range and he put the Towners in front by a solitary point.
It would be the only time they led all day, as Brown kicked the next two goals to give Waubra a 16-point advantage at half-time.
Waubra onballer Shaun Mullane started to work his way into the game in the third term, but it was Tim Mullane who was everywhere.
Cameron Landry switched forward to provide the highlight of the quarter with a good goal from the boundary to put Waubra up by 21 points at the final change.
A depleted Dunnstown then ran out of legs in the final stanza and the Roos jumped into the first semi-final against Learmonth next week.
