Injuries hit soccer club

06 Jun, 2006 11:55 AM
TWO skilled soccer players were seriously injured at games held at the Daylesford Secondary College last weekend.

Daylesford and Hepburn United Soccer Club senior player Nick Jansen was slammed to the ground and broke his collar bone in two places as the Sebastopol Vikings attempted to score.

Under 13 player Eve Vanzetta hit the ground hard during her game and broke her elbow.

She was rushed to the sidelines for medical attention.

Jenny Vanzetta said her daughter, who was best on ground on Sunday, was seeing a bone specialist as The Advocate went to print.

Her arm was put in a cast after the incident.

"She was in a lot of pain and will be out for four to five weeks," she said.

"She was disappointed, she thought she would be playing next week."

Ms Vanzetta said Eve loved playing soccer and would be missed.

Club spokeswoman Caroline Stone said Jansen would not play for months.

"He will be sorely missed," she said.

Club president Pat Reed wasn't at the games but said it was unfortunate that two players had been injured.
