Clunes V Bungaree

THESE teams played out a thrilling draw in Central Highlands Football League on Saturday at Bungaree. Scores were tied on 9.12(66) when the final siren sounded. The Magpies were brilliant all day and never let the margin

stretch beyond three goals against the highly fancied Demons.

Strong performances from Mark Anderson, Nicholas Buscombe, Troy Banfield, Ryan Hudson-Morgan, Matthew Cannan, Michael Milne and Michael Young. But the result is still heartbreaking for Clunes, which had its chances

to win the match late in the game.

Forwards Jay Guthrie, Hudson-Morgan and Banfield all booted two goals each.

The hard work continues this weekend for Clunes. The Magpies take on the undefeated Learmonth at Bull Milgate Oval.

Creswick V Buninyong

CRESWICK'S miserable season continued on Saturday when it was thrashed by Buninyong in the Central Highlands Football League.

The Bunnies won by 140 points in a freeflowing match at home.

A goalless first quarter didn't help Creswick, but Buninyong was too strong all over the ground for the entire match.

Bunnies' forwards Adam Bridges and Billie Leskosek, five goals, apiece, and veteran Andrew Tranquilli, four goals, proved a headache for the Creswick defenders.

Best players for Creswick were Michael Griffin, David Blake, Simon Hepworth, Aaron Parker, Brad Scown, Steven Patterson.

The Wickers play fourth-placed Waubra at Hammon Park this Saturday.

Newlyn V Springbank

NEWLYN has finally broken its losing streak. The Cats beat the Tigers by 48 points at Springbank on Saturday.

A seven goal to two third term clinched the game for Newlyn despite a tough effort from Springbank.

The Cats played with confidence and their forward line was dangerous throughout the match.

Coach Jamie Wilson was inspirational and Daniel Clarke and David Jones provided strong support. Other handy players were Adam McKenzie, Christopher Eastwell and Cameron Larkin.

Scott McKay and McKenzie booted three goals each for the winners.

Newlyn hosts Gordon this weekend and should record its second win in a row.

Daylesford V LearmonthDAYLESFORD has suffered its second loss in three games, going down to undefeated Learmonth at the weekend.

In a match where Daylesford never looked like winning, Learmonth came out victors by 23 points in front of its home crowd.

A slight wind advantage in favour of Learmonth gave the Lakies the jump start in the first quarter. The ladder leaders kicked three goals to Daylesford's one.

The onball brigade in O'Brien and the Adams brothers fought hard in the clinches, but the swirly wind proved tough for the Bulldogs' key forwards.

Daylesford restored some pride back in the last and a clever goal from Ben Broadway helped the team win the final term.

Trentham V Maldon

TRENTHAM'S dream of playing finals in 2008 is almost over after a loss to Maldon at the weekend.

The loss puts the Saints well behind the Maryborough Castlemaine District Football League's top five.

Maldon eventually broke away in a tight last quarter to run out 29 point winners at Trentham on Saturday.
