THE Daylesford Saints have managed a quality 3-0 win over league leaders and last year's runner-up Ballarat Red in the BDSA match on Sunday.
The result was impressive with the Saints playing some patient and exciting one-touch football.
They missed nothing, setting up chances for Sam Berrins and Dylan Nulty.
It was Dylan Nulty who struck first after some brilliant midfield work from Zoran Drogiski and Matt Sutton.
Dwight Beare and Dragi Koleski were in commanding form and Koleski smashed home a second after following up after a dazzling run through midfield and a low drive into the bottom corner.
The first half highlights were certainly a string of spectacular passes by Koleski, Toneka Costa and Zoran Drogiski.
Ballarat Red was stunned to find itself 2-0 down at half time, after beating the Saints 3-0 and 4-1 in the two previous games.
Ballarat did not get a look-in and couldn't get through the classy Saints' midfield minefield.
The goals seemed to inspire the Saints, with all players finding an extra gear and playing some fluent soccer.
The passing of Matt Sutton and Ivan Carter was a highlight, with Dylan Nulty and Jack Nulty coming close many times up forward.
Wayne Devlin and Steve Jenner did well when they came on, as did newcomer Ace Cimera and Beare was in fine form with some crunching tackles.
The Saints deserved the win, and found another goal through the irrepressible Koleski.
The Saints rose when it counted and recorded their first victory over Ballarat Red in over a decade.
Final score: Daylesford Saints 3 d Ballarat Red 0
Best: Koleski, Beare, Nulty, Drogiski, Sutton
