Hepburn's heartbreak

19 Sep, 2006 09:43 AM
HEPBURN failed in its quest for three consecutive CHFL flags at the last hurdle against a rampant Waubra on Saturday.

After the game there were emotional scenes as two champions signalled their intentions to retire.

Captain Jamie Grant spoke warmly of his time at Hepburn, stating that the chance to lead the club and win two flags was his biggest highlight in sport. Clive Raak also spoke fondly of the memories he will take with him into retirement.

Coach Shane Robertson was devastated by the loss, but said planning has already begun to ensure the 'Burras remain a force.
