CHRIS Grant will most likely play as a forward when he lines up for Daylesford at Victoria Park this weekend.
Grant will pull on the Bulldogs jumper against Bungaree in a one-off appearance this Saturday.
The 36-year-old Western Bulldogs games record holder trained with Daylesford twice last week and will again
make the trip for two training sessions this week.
Bulldogs coach Darren McColl said the recently retired Western Bulldogs champion would play as a goal-kicking
forward.
"That's not a definite thing yet. But we are expecting he will play as a forward," he said.
McColl admitted he had no idea how much of an influence the champion would have on the match.
"I'm not really sure what to expect from Chris. We are certainly not expecting him to win the game for us or kick
10 goals for us.
"We are just confident he will give us 100 per cent and play out a role for us," McColl said.
"But it's very exciting and it is a great thing for the Central Highlands Football League," he said.
The favourite son at Victoria Park has not played with his home club since he was picked at number 105 in the
1988 VFL draft.
Grant last year retired from the Western Bulldogs after playing 341 games since his debut in 1990.
While Grant will be the big inclusion, 2008 surprise packet Nick Cronin will miss the Bungaree clash through
injury.
McColl said Cronin, who's booted 23 goals from five matches, had been carrying an injury for most of the season.
"With the long weekend bye coming up it would make no sense at all for him to play this week," McColl said.
McColl refused to be drawn on suggestions Cronin has played his last game for 2008.
The key Bulldog player is likely to re-locate away from the region for employment reasons.
"We're pretty sure he will be back to play at stages throughout the year. None of it is certain yet," McColl said.
