THE Daylesford Bulldogs have continued their run of good mid-season form, defeating Dunnstown in an away game by 54 points.
Daylesford battled through windy conditions to lead at every change on the way to its eighth win of the season.
Peter Jenkin was terrific, constantly beating his man in one-on-one duels. Nick Sullivan's game typified Daylesford's play, with him putting his head over the ball in dangerous situations to earn free kicks.
Clayton Scoble was magic around the packs, timing his runs perfectly to read the ball off marking contests.
While Daylesford was inaccurate in the windy conditions, four goals came from Darren Chambers, three from Josh Carman and two from Luke Adams.
The game started in a tight and close fashion, with both sides getting goals on the board early, and a narrow three point lead to Daylesford at quarter time.
Daylesford put the foot down in the second quarter, keeping Dunnstown scoreless while kicking four majors.
Two of those goals came from Josh Carman who was lively in the forward line, getting away from his man and pushing up the ground for possessions.
Daylesford held a 34-point lead at the main break but a mid-third-quarter revival from Dunnstown had the margin back under five goals. A long raking goal from Rob Rodgers soon after would end any fight back by Dunnstown. Daylesford again led by 34 points going into the last quarter.
The Bulldogs shone in the final term, outscoring their opponents five goals to three. It was fitting that Nick Sullivan kicked the final goal, sharking the ball deep inside 50 to give Daylesford a nine-goal win.
