THE Daylesford Bulldogs have recorded their biggest win of the season, defeating Gordon by 89 points.
The match also marked 200 games for club legend Joel Adams, whose outstanding play in the midfield has been a staple for Daylesford over the past decade.
Daylesford was able to put its skills to good use in the dry conditions, eventually breaking away from Gordon to get a much needed percentage boost.
Daylesford kicked the first two goals of the game, with Chris Elderfield looking dangerous early and getting involved through the midfield.
He then moved forward to kick two goals in the opening term.
With the wind dropping in the second term, the skills improved and the Bulldogs were able to kick away.
Jack Savige was in everything up forward, taking many marks across the half-forward line and getting the distance with ease when lining up from 50 metres out.
A six-goal lead opened up at half-time, but Daylesford found it difficult to add to that margin as it continuously broke down across half-forward.
With Gordon playing a man behind the ball, the Bulldogs found it difficult to penetrate inside 50 and managed just the two goals for the term.
But then the floodgates opened with Daylesford booting eight goals to four points in the final term to cruise to an easy victory.
Darren Chambers was terrific throughout the day and added hardness and class across half-back and half-forward.
Jordan Alexander was also very good, with his disposal and evasiveness standing out.
But Joel Adams was best on ground. His hard work and willingness to help his teammates was typical of the way he has gone about his football since his very first game.
Daylesford travels to Ballan next week.
