THE Daylesford Bulldogs has won its elimination final beating Buninyong by 23 points at Learmonth on Saturday.
On a day perfect for finals football the Bulldogs never let up and led from start to finish showing grit and determination.
It was a low-scoring first half but Daylesford got early goals and controlled the match.
And while Buninyong threw everything at them in the second quarter, Daylesford toughened it out and managed to take in a one-goal lead at half-time.
Once again Joel Adams was magnificent in the centre, winning the hard-contested ball. Bernie Jurcan showed great poise and fitness after leading the Daylesford reserves side to victory just 24 hours previously.
Daylesford bolted out of the blocks in the third quarter and looked to put the sudden-death game beyond all doubt. Peter Jenkin was at his acrobatic best across half-back, hitting the ground running and repelling Buninyong attacks. Clayton Scoble was elusive and slotted some classy
goals.
As the game moved into the last quarter, it was simply a case of Daylesford needing to lock down their opponents, and that's what they did.
Rob Rodgers racked up the possessions and shut out his opponent, while Shannon Mobbs' tackling and harassing was ferocious. James Evans did a fantastic old-fashioned stopping job on one of the league's best forwards, Andrew Tranquilli.
Daylesford will now play Waubra who lost to Learmonth in their qualifying final.
The game will be played in Learmonth on August 31 and starts at 2.15pm.
