GLENN Kerr has resigned as senior coach of Creswick.
In his third year at the helm of the Central Highlands Football League club, Kerr announced he would be standing down from the role following his team's 22nd consecutive defeat, which came at the hands of Ballan on Saturday.
The former Bungaree player, who has not tasted success since the Wickers' two-point win over the Blues in round 10 of 2009, said it was time for the club to take a fresh approach.
"It's nothing against the club, but in three years I certainly haven't had the success I would have expected and this year has been really, really disappointing," Kerr said yesterday.
"I thought last year we made some good steps forward but this year we have really struggled.
"They're a really good bunch of players, but it's been a year of frustration and disappointment. Saturday was really disappointing because we were the better side on the day but couldn't get the job done.
"I'm struggling with work and time is a bit of issue, but the same things are repeatedly happening. You start to look at that and think the way you deliver the message isn't getting through."
Kerr felt Saturday was the right time to inform the playing group of his decision.
"It wasn't a case of taking my bat and ball and going home, but the club needs as much time to find the right person as possible," he said.
"It's not fair to have a new coach turn up in November when they start pre-season training.
"The club's been fantastic for me. They gave me an opportunity and I can't speak highly enough for my time and the people there. I've thoroughly enjoyed my three years."
Creswick president Jarrod New said Kerr would coach out the remainder of the season while the club continued to pursue a high-profile playing coach.
"Our objective is to obtain the services of a high-profile playing coach and someone to mentor the young list," he said.
