Hepburn juniors

HAVING cleaned up Daylesford by 15 goals last week the Hepburn under-18s arrived in Clunes full of confidence.

Realising they were playing a Clunes-Wesley combine helped focus their minds as they new this would be no easy

match.

The team work they have developed over recent weeks saw them off to a flying start, this fast running game saw

them put on four goals for the quarter.

Captain Cimera and Knight soon had the run of the ball, using their pace to open up the Clunes defence .An

inaccurate second term saw them only manage 1.6 for the quarter as the ball became harder to get.

These wasted shots may come at a heavy price against the top teams they will face in the next few weeks.

Robertson again had plenty of the ball and is the only forward to have mastered the helicopter punt when kicking

for goal.

The gutsy Frost was having a great game, bursting through packs to drive the ball forward.

Wetzel and Kinnear were running the ball out of the backline as multiple goal scorers saw them take a big lead

and run out easy winners.

Coach Eddie Conroy has done a great job with the boys and will ensure they are at their best for the tough games

over the next two weeks.

Results: Hepburn 15.13. (103) defeated Clunes 5.2. (32)

Best: A Cimera, B Knight, K Frost, S Conroy, L O'Hallaran, M Allison.

Goals: Knight, 5, Robertson, 3, Allison, 2, Henderson, Cimera, Winnard, Hughes, Conroy.

Hepburn under-12s

HEPUBURN'S newest football team, its under-12s, took to the field bright and early against Clunes on Saturday

for their third game of the season.

The eager bunch of boys have been training hard all year and this showed in a tight first half.

Good team work with a lot of hand ball saw them on the score board with two great goals from rising star Joe

Clarke.

Stuart Aberdein and Rory Olver were in charge in the centre and player of the future Bryce Coffey stood strong

in defence.

Jed Nevill was busy all around the ground and Adam Raak and Leroy Van Baer kept the ball moving with some

clever shepherding.

As the pressure mounted in the final quarter Al Ferrier and Darcy Busch defended well allowing the team to run

out comfortable winners.

A great game by the Burra mosquito fleet.

Creswick under-18

CRESWICK junior teams travelled to Beaufort to play teams in the top five.

Conditions were soft after overnight rain but the both games remained rain-free.

The under-18s started very slowly and Beaufort had an inspirational mark and three quality shots at goal but the

return was an unconvincing eight points.

Creswick was able to repair the damage and scoot away to a handy quarter time break of three goals.

The second quarter was again tight and two late goals to Beaufort brought the margin back to 13 points at the

main break.

Jose Marshmann and Glen Christoforou had both taken great one hand marks themselves and were in good touch

while Mick Lockyer's quality ball handling and occasional party trick on his left foot kept the scoreboard

advantage.

Josh Taylor once again found his feet in the third quarter and with great forward pressure, particularly through

Brad Murray, many opportunities were created and a commanding six-goal lead was established.

Adrian had a game out and added two goals in the last quarter with a very solid victory.

Results: Creswick 13.3.81 defeated Beaufort 6.6.42.

Best: Lockyer, Marshmann, Taylor, K Christoforou, G Peters, Hepworth.

Creswick under-15s

THE under-15s were able to control the game from the outset.

Josh Dummelow displayed clean hands, quality kicking and handball including some great play on footy to post

a winning score off his own boot.

Morgan Lowe enjoyed a great game while Liam Hepworth and Joel Antonio controlled the midfield.

Useful contributions from the Morris Flynn brothers and Ethan Fontana who also nailed two goals give the team

vital depth. A generous rotation of the bench allowed great team progress.

Results: Creswick 14.11.95 defeated Beaufort 1.0.6.

Best: Antonio, J Hepworth, Dummelow, Fontana, Morris Flynn, A Lowe.
