HEPBURN brought its A-grade game to the Laurie Sullivan Reserve on Saturday, trouncing highly-respected rival, Waubra, by 11 goals.
Hepburn had players running in numbers, working together and it also enjoyed a dominant forward line.
Andy McKay was dominant in the first half. Despite some rough treatment, he let his class do the talking, setting Hepburn up before half time.
When Lee Cox took his first mark for the match, the crowd could sense that the Burras were there to play. Cox kicked the goal, and went on to score seven more.
Hepburn's Brendan Shepherd's duel with Lee Brown was a beauty. The Big Shep became a pivotal player in the Burra backline.
His understudies in Gary Byers, Leigh Santurini and Jae McGrath also mopped up and created numerous opportunities.
Jarryd King and Anthony Baker used their strength to dish the ball out from under packs and their tackling seemed to worry the opposition whenever the ball was in close.
Nick Walsh again impressed in the ruck, working in tandem with ``son of a former gun'' Daniel Smith, who has been used in a number of positions already. Smith's versatility is becoming a huge bonus for coach Shane Robertson.
With the return of Daniel James, an undefeated Reserves team, pressure is starting to build for team spot. All good signs as Hepburn go to Bungaree next Saturday.
