THE Laurie Sullivan Reserve was set for a classic encounter of first versus third on Saturday and at quarter-time things were going to plan.
But a five-goal burst in the opening 12 minutes of the second quarter by the Burras put doubts in the minds of the Beaufort players that they could match it with Hepburn for four quarters of football.
Trailing by three points at quarter-time, Hepburn's only real spark up until that point had come from Jarryd King, who was a livewire up forward, using his big frame to perfection and kicking two goals.
At that point, and after the address by coach Shane Robertson, the midfield cut loose, breaking the game wide open. The main instigators were Daniel James, Anthony Baker and Andy McKay.
McKay was to bring the crowd to its feet with another trademark hanger during the final term
All eyes were on Lee Cox who had taken goal kicking to a new level in recent weeks.
Cox had an absorbing duel with Damien Day, with the latter performing admirably, while Cox still managed to bag five valuable goals.
Hepburn at times used the Ross Mann wing to perfection, with Daniel Rees again controlling what ball came into his area. Rees showed the poise of someone much older and is enjoying a superb season so far.
The highlight of the day undoubtedly was the debut of Jackson Liversidge.
The child prodigy who has grown up idolising his heroes, instantly became a hit creating a goal as soon as he entered the field.
He was not afraid to throw his light frame into hazardous situations, gaining the nod of approval from spectators in the outer.
The 87-point victory was a perfect way to go into next week's blockbuster against the highly fancied Buninyong.
