Ballan adapted better to the windy conditions early, applying plenty of pressure in the centre and around the ground to lead at quarter time.

Daylesford's tall timber of Bolton and Tisdale, despite being well held at times, never relaxed in their endeavour, which inspired onballers Paddy Dwyer, Hayden Cowan and Elliot Eyles.

Aidan Mill began the game in great style and kicked three classy goals. Lewis Ingham was solid, reading the play well to pick up valuable possessions.

At the half time the Bulldogs had fought back to hold the lead by a narrow margin.

The third quarter saw Ballan kicking to the scoring end but it was unable to reduce the deficit.

Despite picking up a heavy leg knock early Seb Walsh showed his class and was a valuable contributor.

The backline again was outstanding with Darcey Shewell a pillar, gathering strength as the game progressed, and chaser Jesse Browne deep in the pockets, often defusing the Ballan attack.

In the final quarter the Bulldogs were able to break Ballan's shackles to dominate the centre clearances and finally produce some quality run around the ground.

Pat Murray began to have a big impact as he sharpened his focus on the ball.

Spencer Alexander had an exceptional quarter making several telling tackles and capitalising with terrific second efforts.

Dwyer capped off a brilliant season picking up the medallion for Best on Ground in a performance that typified the determination of every member of this team to play for each other.
