HEPBURN returned to the winners' list defeating a depleted Clunes by 163 points and in doing so retained the Bing Baker Cup.
Hepburn looked to be on their game early, with the potent forward line given numerous scoring opportunities. By the game's end half the side had registered a goal.
The highlight of the day was Ben Hughes and Billy Albert playing their first seniors game. Both players adapted quickly to the tempo as did Sam Winnard, who kicked three goals in his second senior game.
Andy McKay racked up possessions all over the ground as did Dan O'Halloran, who capped off his day with four majors.
But it was the pressure off the ball that made the Hepburn brains trust happier this week. Many players made selfless acts in order to make it easier for their team mates, with hard nut Jackson O'Neil leading the way in this department.
Lee Santurini also made a welcome return to senior football following a knee reconstruction. Santa read the play well and set up many of Hepburn's forward thrusts.
Up forward, Lee Cox's marking was as usual outstanding. Cox booted eight goals, teaming well with Ash Wedding, who kicked four of his own. Percentage is what the team was after and it was good to put pressure on positions in the side in the lead-up to the finals series.
Next week the Burras face Beaufort in their final game at the Laurie Sullivan Reserve for 2009.
