NEW Creswick coach Glenn Kerr is confident new additions to Wickers' playing list will see the battling club more
competitive in 2008.
About 10 senior players, along with Kerr, will pull on the red, black and white in 2008.
Kerr, 34, has been appointed senior coach until the end of 2009 after retiring as a player at Bungaree.
Although none of the recruits are out and out stars, Kerr said the influx would improve the club's work ethic.
"All the (new) players are fairly similar at the moment, our midfield will be strengthened and I think the new faces
will create some excitement around the club," Kerr said.
"We are very happy with where we are at at the moment.
"It's only January and we have a few announcements to come yet," he said.
The McCains production manager said he hoped to inject enthusiasm into the club, which finished third from the
bottom in Central Highlands Football League last year.
"I'm looking forward to working with the young players at this club," he said.
"A lot of people from the community pour money into the club and it's not just for signs on fences, they want to
see Creswick more competitive."
The Wickers finished last year with three wins and 14 losses.
Kerr, who will coach from the sidelines, said there was no chance he would get itchy feet and make a return to
the field mid season.
"The secret is to not register as a player, you can't play then, even if you want," Kerr said.
"My days of playing are definitely over. I struggled with a few injuries last year," he said.
Kerr has played all of his football at Bungaree and coached their reserves side.
His premiership prediction for 2008 included the top three clubs of 2007.
"Waubra, Daylesford and Hepburn will all be a chance going by last year's form."
The Wickers train at their clubrooms Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 6pm.
The club's first match is an away game against Ballan on April 19.
