RIDERS from Daylesford's Rideability Victoria (formerly Riding for Disabled) showed off their skills and their expertly groomed horses at the recent Asia Pacific Dressage Championships for Unclassified Riders.
The competition was entered via video and three riders spent a day at Glenlyon practising with the assistance of former Glenlyon Pony Club members Ashlee Pavey, Peta Rak and Samantha Jordan, before having their tests filmed.
Emily Hunt, riding Boomerang Ranch's Tipperary Springs Ruby, was first in the Walk D test.
Amy Harrison, riding Peta Rak's Jaz, was third in the Walk D test and fourth in the Walk C test.
Liam Richardson, riding Gaby Francis' horse Tammy, was second in the Trot E test and third in Trot B.
The riders were beautifully turned out and the horses were groomed and plaited by volunteers Jeanette Oates and Wendy Hogben.
The event was one of several competitions to take place during Rideability Victoria's winter break.
Richardson, Gabi O'Mara and Emily Hunt joined forces with Will Heagney to compete in the Rideability State Games Championships held in Bendigo, coming in their first games competition equal second with Ballarat.
O'Mara rode a well-controlled trot leg in the final race - a team relay to maintain second place from a fast finishing Ballarat team.
Richardson, riding his new horse Maddie, went to the State Dressage, Handy Mount and Show Jumping Championships on September 6 at Clyde.
Liam had only been riding Maddie for a week and it was the combination's first competition. Richardson and Maddie were second in the Second Division Handy mount after he successfully guided Maddie over a wooden bridge and through a gate that he had to open and close while
on horse back.
Richardson and Maddie were also third in the Trot G test.
It was a great effort for Richardson, a young rider on a new horse.
