Trentham in box seat in cricket match against Blackwood

BLACKWOOD was away to Trentham, who batted first and was dismissed for 165 runs.

Brett Sullivan, 68, and Robert Whan, 21, did well with the bat, while the wickets were shared by Dean Crewther 4/51 and Andy Thomas 3/27.

In reply, Trentham is 1/60 with Michael Micallef 26 not out and Dennis Thomas contributing 31.

The game continues this week with Trentham requiring 106 runs for victory.

In another district cricket match, Koweinguboora was rolled for 71 runs against Colts.

Chris Adams made 15 and the wickets were taken by Steven Thomas 4/10, Brett Marshall 3/24 and Finley MacDonald 2/21.

Colts are 7/62 needing 10 runs for victory.

Jason Mackley 19 and Matthew Bolton 19 not out stood out and Chris Adams has 5/25.

In the match that saw Newlyn at home to Smeaton, the latter hit 184 runs with N. Smith 85, Andrew Briggs 21 and Simon Dwyer 19 the better bats.

Smeaton is 6/48, the wickets falling to Simon Dwyer 2/13 and Chris Stephens 2/24.

Hepburn had the bye this past round.
