Smeaton's outright win over Trentham

SMEATON beat Trentham outright in its round-seven clash.

Smeaton resumed on 3/164 after dismissing Trentham for 158 runs.

It batted on to make 259 runs with Jamie Taylor hitting a ton and getting 114.

Other batsmen to stand out were D. Rowe 32 and Dean Taylor 24.

Trentham had a second hit, getting 151, with Dean Crewther 61 and Dennis Thomas 28 in the runs, while the wickets were shared between Dean Taylor 3/33 and Michael Gross 4/57. Smeaton got the runs with about 20 overs to spare to finish on 4/61.

Blackwood was rolled for 147 chasing Newlyn's 227. Only John Devereaux with 67 offered resistance while Ian Hill 3/19, Simon Dwyer 3/31 and Chris Stephens 3/51 did well with the ball.

First innings points to Newlyn.

Hepburn defeated the Colts outright. The game resumed at 3/39 chasing Colt's 73. Hepburn declared at 4/203.

Best for Hepburn were Wayne Robinson, 111 not out, Sam Winnard 48 and Chris Elderfield 20, not out.

Hepburn secured outright points by bowling out the Colts for 82.

Aarron Brereton top-scored with 27 with Wayne Robinson taking 7/21.

The juniors hit a very good total of 8/251 against Trentham. With the Walsh brothers, Sebastian and Xavier hitting 63 not out and 50 not out.

Other batsmen to do well were Spencer Alexander 28, Robert Glen 26 and Pat Helper 17 , while John Cowell took 3/26.
