DAYLESFORD last Friday captured the Bendigo Country Week division four title with a thrilling one-run win against Bendigo Gold at White Hills.
Chasing Bendigo Golds' 177, the grand final hung in the balance when Daylesford lost two quick wickets to fall to 8-170.
However, No.9 Nigel McKenzie (5 n.o.) and No.10 Brett Marshall (0 n.o.) were able to get Daylesford across the line on the last ball of the match as it finished at 8-178.
Daylesford was 2-14 early, but a gritty 89 from No.4 Wayne Robinson put his side back on track.
Robinson batted until Daylesford was just eight runs from victory, before he was run out, leaving the score at 8-170.
The only other Daylesford player to pass 20 was Luke Adams (21), who put on 43 for the second wicket with Robinson.
Earlier, after winning the toss and batting, Bendigo Gold recovered from 8-111 in the 46th over to post 177 off its 55.
After his 6-15 on Thursday, McKenzie followed it up with 4-55 off a marathon 25 overs.
The John Turner under-21 player of the carnival went to Sam Winnard who took 3-72 off 18.
Winnard made 142 runs and took nine wickets and three catches by Thursday evening to win the award.
