THE Creswick Imperials have fallen two wickets shy of claiming victory in their Ballarat Cricket Association District division-one clash with Haddon.
Imperials resumed on Saturday at 4/110 following a rain-affected day one, hitting quick runs before declaring just 25 overs into the day, with the score at 7-219.
The early wickets of Haddon openers Brodie Doolan and Chris Collins had Creswick looking good early, before handy contributions from Shaun McArthur, 22, and Peter Ross, 36, helped steady the home team.
But when the pair departed, Creswick again took control.
It claimed a further four scalps, but simply ran out of time as Haddon finished the day at 8/120 when stumps were drawn.
Simon Franc was the only bowler to feature for Haddon, claiming six of the seven wickets to fall in Creswick's innings. The other dismissal was a run-out.
Opener Adam Cleveland, who resumed on 64, top-scored for Creswick with 83.
