Bulls crash through in Central Highlands Twenty20 club titles

19 Jan, 2010 01:49 PM
BROWN HILL breezed through to the final of the Central Highlands Twenty20 Club Championship at Cricket Willow.

The Bulls destroyed an undermanned Chalambar outfit in the section B quarter-finals before losing just one wicket in easily chasing down Rokewood's total in the semi final.

Ryan Knowles, fresh from his century in club firsts competition on Saturday, thumped a blistering 102 from just 35 balls, and T20 specialist Sam Giblett smacked 114 off 58 balls as a nine-man Chalambar leaked 320 while taking just four wickets.

Part-timer Matt Hyden then claimed 3-8 in Chalambars innings, which ended on 83.

Giblett continued where he left off in the semi-final against Rokewood, which had earlier defeated Natte-Yallock.

The classy opener hit 91 of the runs needed to chase down Rokewood's earlier total of 3-105.

The victory came in just nine overs.

Brown Hill will take on section A winners Rupertswood in the final of the competition, at Daylesford's Cricket Willow, on Australia Day.

The winning side will then progress through to the state-wide competition, which features clubs from the 16 regions throughout Victoria.
