Daylesford Bulldogs too tough for their best Friends

THIS game saw the two newest teams to the women's basketball competition go head to head.

Until half time, the game was tight with the Bulldogs holding a four point lead 14 to 10, with Corrie Spicer turning it on in the first half as she piled on eight points.

The second half saw the Bulldogs pull further ahead and, despite the tireless work from Tania Henderson and Shannon Marshall, the Bulldogs were able to record a solid win, 22 points to 13.

Spicer led all scorers with 14, while Henderson ed the way for The Friends with seven.

Men's Basketball

THE game of the week saw Purple Pigs up against Bubble Bees.

Purple Pigs have been the easy beats from last season and coming up against the Bumble Bees it seemed this trend would continue.

However, the Purple Pigs had other ideas and came out strong to take a slender three-point lead into half time, 20 to 17.

The second half was a real arm wrestle Purple Pigs were able to fight out an impressive three-point win, beating the heavy favourite Bumble Bees 43 to 40.

Simon Dicato led the way for the Bumble Bees with 18 points but it was the game-winning performance from Chappy with 20 for the Purple Pigs that helped cause the upset.

Social Volleyball

IN THE Glenlyon CFA versus Phascogales match, the Glenlyon CFA team played an improving Phascogales with the first set dictating the play for the rest of the match.

There was great teamwork and calling from both teams.

With Ted Cooper's service power Glenlyon won the set 25/22. The second set saw Tim Waldon and Tracey Anthony combining to outplay their opposition and win the set 25/22. The third set again saw Glenlyon show their great fighting spirit and and take the set and match 25/22 with

some precision ball placement.

A-grade volleyball

IN A grand-final match, three sets to love.

The first set saw Melissa Johnson star with her accurate passing with set scores 25/20. The second set had Daniel Collings and Bobby Bird combining to help win the set 25/21.

Benchwarmers defeated Globbogym 22/25.
