DAYLESFORD Secondary College white ribbon day ambassadors played against the Ballarat Lady Miners on Friday, November 27, in a campaign to promote awareness of violence against women.
DSC's student welfare co-ordinator Sue Bosch said the school was "proud of their efforts''.
The students, with more collective experience on a football field than a basketball court, played a commendable game at the ARC against the professionals.
In the end, Ballarat's premier basketball team won the game with a score of 65 to 61 (for fairness, the scores were reversed at half time).
For all involved, the real purpose of the game was its charity aspect.
Ms Bosch said the students had been working with grade six students raising awareness of violence against women.
Then they came up with the idea of a charity match against the Lady Miners.
``I think it was an excellent commitment by them to be a part of it,'' she said.
The event raised funds through a sausage sizzle and gold coin donations.
